NPI is a nonprofit organization, registered in Boston, Massachusetts, that has been training and certifying patient navigators in Spanish in Latin America since 2016.
Recently (In 2022), NPI signed a formal agreement with the Istmo University in Guatemala, where the university has endorsed our training curriculum. This curriculum is based mainly on George Washington Cancer Center’s Patient Navigation Guide.
Dr. Freeman is the father and pioneer of the patient navigation concept and model, which addresses disparities in access to timely diagnosis and treatment, particularly among low-income communities.

Since 2018, Margaret received oncology nursing and patient navigation training through Global Oncology and has been a key element since the opening of the first public oncology unit in Belize.
